Calvary Community Church was started in 1982 by Pastor J. Mark Martin. Calvary, a non-denominational church, started with only 11 people in a northwest Phoenix elementary school band room and today has grown to be the church home for over 12,000. Rapid growth eventually led to the purchase of the present facility, a former shopping center adjacent to the Black Canyon Freeway. Calvary continues to grow enjoying a new, state of the art Children’s Ministries facility and exciting plans for a new extension Campus at 59th Avenue and Bell.

~ becoming a Calvary Chapel In 1984 Pastor Chuck Smith of Costa Mesa, California invited Pastor Mark and the Calvary Community family to join the Calvary Chapel fellowship of churches.

Pastor Mark has often said, “Throughout the years we’ve seen God work in extraordinary ways. We’ve seen through this work that where God guides, God provides.”
